Metal

we are metal on metal
completely incompatible,
but
attracted -
screeching, grating
yet making sparks.

Heat

come and mingle with me,
soon-to-be-lover. Put your hand
in mine and I can show
you how heat is meant to feel.

Rainy day

rain clouds clutter the sky, but still it
is brighter than if sunny.
i never understood how that could be
and still it remains a mystery.

Future

i sometimes imagine what my
future children will look like,
how they’ll be.

in these dreams my children
are always chubby with mops of curly hair
atop their head, with shining eyes and
large smiles
- but most of all
they’re happy.
they’re never far off from cherubs in my mind

i imagine them hellions,
i imagine them angels,
but always perfect nonetheless.
not because they’re without flaws
no,
because they’ll know it is those
exact same flaws
that’ll make me love them
with my entire soul.

Unrequited

you love her.
she has you
bowed on your knees -
twisting your crown into
patches and rags

you’ll abandon
your pride and let the apologies scald yourtongue and …
sear into my memory.

you, love, are so blind.

i’ll paint you vivid and kiss your palms.
Let you shatter my
bones and break
my spine - take
my life and set
it aflame

but then I realize,
she’s gold, and i’m not
even breaching on copper.
